Is the Price Right For You?
Posted by TwitLamp on March 13, 2013

These days many people feel that they should only pay for something if it is really worth it. Why pay for a donut if you can get a free one with a coffee? Why pay for phone insurance if it is included in your house insurance? Nothing is simple nowadays and it is worth looking around for the best deal and working out if something is really worth the money. When it comes to new concepts in technology in a lot of the cases it is much more simple. If there is a market there, then the likelihood is that there is a need for it. Twitlamp is a prime example of this. Twitter is a necessary tool, but one that is often confusing and too dense with information to really process. Twitlamp takes this information and offers it to you in a manageable format. Now that is worth paying for.

Of course the lovely people at Twitlamp know that not everyone can afford or even needs everything that is included in the Pro account, so naturally they offer a free version that is limited, but still offers a personalised Twitter experience. But that’s not really what we are talking about here. The Pro account is for users that have made Twitter a part of their lives and need this essential site to work for them. When you take into account how often you use Twitlamp, the price is put into perspective. Initially there was one price for the Pro account, but those lovely people at Twitlamp have made it even more tempting to sign up with their new price offers. For one month the cost is a mere $3. Increase that to 3 months and you get a fantastic price of $8 and for 6 months it is only $15.

When a company offers these varied price options it can only mean one thing. They are taking their users into consideration. A varied price option means varied customers and although everyone might have Twitlamp in common that doesn’t mean that they are all the same people. They are saying that if you want flexibility then the 1 month price is for you, but show us a little loyalty and you are rewarded with a low price of $15 for half a year of Twitlamp goodness. What do you think of these price options? Let us know and don’t forget to include #Twitlamp in your tweet!

It’s a Block Party!
Posted by TwitLamp on March 13, 2013

Social media is all about putting yourself out there, sharing your information, thoughts and feelings with the world. It is a system built on trust, but what happens when that trust is broken, or what about those who don’t want their information shared with the world? For those who have privacy issues Twitter offers a closed account, where people can only see your tweets and follow you if you accept them as a follower. Yes, this reduces your potential audience and Twitter community, but it also acts as a form of protection for your data. However, not everyone wants to limit their account and activity and so, then what do you do?

On the Twitter site you can block individual users by going to their account page and choosing the drop down option. However, Twitlamp, as always makes this much simpler, offering a black list for users and keywords that you simply don’t want in your life. We all have these people or keywords, no matter how good or bad you might be, sometimes you just want to keep someone or something at arm’s length and social media should make this easy for us.

Once you have posted a tweet it is out there, for all the world to see, but this doesn’t mean that you have to lose control. You can delete the post, or block certain people that you don’t want to see it. Social media puts the power in your hands and Twitlamp is a great example of this. All that Twitter has to offer is compartmentalised and easy to see and understand. Pick and choose what you want to read and who you follow. It makes sense that this should apply to your followers too, offering you the ultimate in control. How do you feel about privacy on social media? Let us know and don’t forget to include #Twitlamp in your tweet!

The Trending Insight
Posted by TwitLamp on March 13, 2013

When a word, phrase, event or person is trending there is a certain buzz that surrounds it, gathering more followers and tweeters to join in the event. Social media is all about being part of something bigger and trending epitomises this perfectly. Clicking on that Discover link on Twitter and seeing what the world is up to is a great feeling and a fantastic way to connect with people around the globe, but sometimes it can feel just a little too disorganised to really get involved with.

As you might expect, Twitlamp has a solution for this, offered only to Pro account holders. The Twitlamp trends page contains the most popular multimedia that comes to the timeline of TwitLamp users from the last 6 hours. This allows you to see everything going on in the world of Twitter, offering you the option to get involved and put you own input in! Many people find that trends are the only way that they interact with Twitter, as it is somewhat like joining a conversation and jumping in with both feet.

How trends start is one of the most interesting parts of social media. Once it is listed in Twitlamp Trends, or the discover page of Twitter all the hard work has already happened and you are contributing to an established conversation, but who starts these things? Is it simply a phenomenon of many people being interested in one thing at the same time or is there a formula for getting a topic to trend? Let us know your thoughts and don't forget to use #Twitlamp in your tweet!

To Upgrade or Stay Free?
Posted by TwitLamp on March 13, 2013
When you first sign up to a new service you automatically opt for the cheaper or free option. Sometimes this is for the best and sometimes you find that you are missing out. Not everything suits everyone and that is why we are so lucky to have so much choice in this world. Twitlamp is just the same and while the free account might be good for some people, others will happily reap the benefits of the Pro account. When you use the free service you feel like you are using a commercial service because of the ads. We are so used to advertisements in our day-to-day lives that often we question the validity of something like a website if it doesn’t have advertisements. But no matter how much you get used to these ads, they can at times ruin the experience. Some sites have large ads, inappropriately placed that users accidentally click on, sending them away from the site that they want to be on. While Twitlamp isn’t like this, the free account does feature ads that can distract the user from their original purpose on the site. Alternatively the Pro account doesn’t feel like a commercial service, it feels like your own personal Twitter experience. No ads, unlimited options. For those who don’t need the unlimited search options and don’t mind advertisements then the free account might be ideal, but for many the Pro account simply ticks all the boxes, fulfilling their social media needs. There’s nothing holding you back and nothing to stop you. Some say that freedom allows the mind to think clearly and aids inspiration. You’ll have to let us know!
